Hi
I've recorded a CD called 'Cello Circles' with the cellist Kalyan.

Grammy nominated cellist David Darling calls it:
"An orchestral and sonic triumph of sound…you give us so many voices to listen to and as a cellist I would have to say that Kalyan is a first rate modern jazz and world music cellist…"

Check it out:

Is anybody else completely loving the new album "the witch's garden", by Abandoned toys? I think its the contemporary classical album I have come across in years. Truly beautiful. If you don't own a copy, you should really look into finding a copy. I think they have some clips of it on their site at:

I have many years of experience playing and am at an intermediate to advanced level. My reading isn't great, though... Let me know if you're interested.

Help-Need Violist, Oboe/English Horn, Sax/Clarinet for Danish Chamber Opera

Hi, I'm participating in an opera workshop from the 22-26th of May. There were
schedule changes and we lost a few people. We're looking for a Violist,
Vibes/Percussionist, Oboe/English Hornist, and Sax/Clarinetist. The librettist
is Danish, Composer is Norwegian. Workshop is in Berkeley.

You need to be able to read, perfection isn't expected at this point. Everyone
who participates this year gets taken to Tromso, Norway (Land of the Midnight
Sun) next year. The schedule is somewhat flexible, although there are 1 or 2
afternoon things. We can try to work it out. Just contact me.

I'd also appreciate any ideas.

Thanks,

Hi,
I just joined this tribe recently in the hopes that I could find other groups of people who happen to play together. I've been playing the flute for the 25 years -- I used to play in orchestras and such during my college days but have been out of it so some time now. I'm jonesing to play with other musicians. I even emailed the conductor of the Oakland Symphony Orchestra to see if he could recommed anything and he said he gets that question all the time, to which he has no answer to.

Any help or info. would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Parisa

I was very involved in classical music playing flute in orchestra and chamber groups in high school. I really enjoyed it and I'd love to get back into it. Most recently I took a class in jazz improv at the College of Alameda and got a solo playing the Girl from Ipanema. If you need a flute player or have suggestions of people I could play with drop me a line: amy@djsnm.com
